The Portland Opera Collaborative cast members create a tour de force of “opera in concert” under the direction of Luette Saul, soprano. With accompaniment by Mark Rossnagel at Brewster’s grand piano, the program encompasses classical German, Italian, and French staples and the American opera theatre for example the quartet from “Bella figlia dell’amore” from Rigoletto, the opening scene of Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel, and the ‘morning argument’ scene from Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti. The ensemble of six has since 2013 presented Mozart, Verdi, and Brahms in concert for the Rossini Club in their home environs of Portland, Maine while separately pursuing solo careers in New England and New York City.
